Three apps for pet owners

There is literally an app for everything and every aspect of our lives. So it comes as no surprise that there will be apps for Fido and apps that we can enjoy with Fido.

Sleep Cycle

Three apps for pet owners

This app was developed using proven sleep science and years of research and development. It was built to function as an intelligent alarm clock that analyzes our sleep. And it does this by using the microphone and accelerometer in our iPhone to monitor our movements and determine which sleep stage we are in before waking us up at our lightest phase. Now, this, according to the experts, is the most natural way to waking up. More pointedly, it is critical to how refreshed, relaxed and rested we feel upon waking.

Originally created for humans, we think this will be a fun app to try on and with Fido. Here’s why. Like us, our canines go through sleep cycles too and their sleep cycle is similar to ours. The only difference is that they go through it way more quickly than we do. So, if you’re as curious as we are to know what that looks like, rev up the Sleep Cycle app and have it close to your canine while it sleeps.

Dog Walk

1. With your choice of colours, paint your preferred pattern on the bowl. Even though the paint is non-toxic, you will want to play safe by painting only the outside of the bowl.

Three apps for pet owners

Sponsored by Subaru, Dog Walk or May my Dog Walk is Lifestyle/Fitness app that has been dog tested and approved. It functions pretty much the same way as the regular running apps in that it uses the built-n GPS technology in your iPhone to enable you to track your walks and get you closer to achieving your health and fitness goals.

So why download or migrate over to Dog Walk? Well, simply because, it comes with an interface that incorporates a really cute canine animation when indicating that pages and/or data is loading. On a more serious note, Dog Walk reminds you that dog walking is not only a responsibility that the pet owner bears, but also an opportunity to exercise a little, and achieve your health and fitness goals. It also reminds you that your canine is your exercising companion. Plus, should you be out of ideas on where to bring your dog for a good long walk, fret not. Dog Walk comes with a function called “Routes”, which effectively suggests nearby trails that you can embark on, depending on the area that you are currently at.

Meet my dog

Three apps for pet owners

Just imagine an instagram-ish cum Tinder-like platform for paw parents and their canines and you will pretty much get what this Meet my Dog app is like. A free and private social network, Meet my Dog gives paw parents the ability to discover, connect and share with other dog owners in their community. What this means is that you will be able to find out who is at the dog park, chat with your fellow paw parents in real time and set up puppy play dates.

Like Instagram, this app also comes with a Newsfeed, where you may see what other dogs in your circle are up to. Before you think: well, I can already do it on Instagram and Facebook, we like to reiterate that Meet my Dog is a canine-specific social network. There will be no need to scroll through 20 OOTD selfies just to find one pet-fanatic post. The only downside of this app is its interface. Simply put: It may be easy to use, but its interface isn’t exactly the most savvy or trendy.
