5 Tips For The Perfect Pet Photography

5 Tips For The Perfect Pet Photography

Though similar to a typical photo shoot, achieving that picture-perfect shot with your furry friend is often tougher than pet owners think. Not only are the locations limited to pet-friendly venues, directing your pet to achieve a certain look is nearly impossible (trust us, we’d know best). Nevertheless, here are six tips to attaining the near-perfect shot.

Keep your pet close

It is essential for your pet to feel comfortable; so be sure to keep them close by placing them on your lap or carry them before/while taking the photo. Do remember to get down to your pet’s level and have them show you how they view the world; you can achieve this by sitting on the floor or by lying on your front.

Move towards your pet

Instead of beckoning them, take the initiative by moving towards them. Or, have them in a position that your furry companion is comfortable with before adjusting to their pose. After all, it is easier to shift your pose than to have your pets assume the position that you desire. To achieve the best pictures, keep the focus on your pet’s eyes.

Be patient

Unlike humans, animals are more unpredictable and are in a nutshell, more challenging to work with. Whether they are tired or distracted, note that your furry friend may just not be feeling it. In this case, we recommend going with the flow and capture their sleepy and/or relaxed moments. If they’re overly excited, exercise a little patience and they will eventually quiet down. You may also consider bringing your pet for a run, to expel its excess energy.

Capture their personalities

Is Kitty the real-life replica of Garfield? Instead of having him smile for the camera, showcase his character by capturing his many grumpy cat moments. If doggo has a playful personality, we recommend showing him performing a trick or playing with his favourite chew toy.

Include other furry friends

The more the merrier, right? For a more dynamic photo shoot, we recommend your furry friend’s pals along. From taking a stroll in the park to playing in their favourite playground at the pet boarding facility in Singapore, these priceless moments will act as great momentos.

When embarking on a photo shoot, do provide your pets access to food and water and to have short breaks in between. With plenty of love and patience, you’ll have your Instagram-worthy shots in no time.
